Space: The final frontier. The original Star Trek TV series brought millions of fans to the edges of outer space and broke ground in many different ways. The original television show was created by Gene Roddenberry and aired on NBC from 1966 through 1969, showcasing 79 episodes over 3 seasons during that timeframe. Many people won’t believe this, but the original series flopped relatively quickly before being picked up in syndication and spawning an empire that resulted in a plethora of merchandise, 12 movies, and countless books.
WMS Gaming has jumped on board with the Star Trek brand, and has begun bringing a series of games based on the popular television series to limited casino brands. The funny thing about these slots are that they take on the original series, and also require players to earn medals before they access certain titles. Star Trek The Trouble With Tribbles is one of these titles. WMS requires you to play other Star Trek titles to almost “level up” before you get the luxury of even loading the game on your computer. Other games in the series include Star Trek Red Alert and Star Trek Explore New Worlds.
The Star Trek The Trouble With Tribbles slot is based on the classic television episode from that original series. The Trouble With Tribbles is the 44th episode in the Star Trek run, and sees The Enterprise’s Captain James T. Kirk overseeing a shipment of grain while a group of triblles end up on the sip. Originally seen by Lieutenant Uhura and the rest of the crew as pets, the tribbles begin multiplying very quickly, and begin to eat all of the ship’s supplies. The episode is perhaps one of the best known of the original series, and is regularly seen in many montages when referencing the legendary status that Star Trek holds.
