Phantom of the Opera has been adapted many times but surely the most important of them all is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1986 musical – where the beautiful soprano Christine becomes the centre of the attention of a disfigured musical genius who lives in an underground labyrinth. Phantom of the Opera is the second-longest running West End show, right after the other epic classic, Les Miserables.
